Today, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Moayad Omar Abdul Rahman, and informed him of its deep regret and dissatisfaction with his repeated violations of diplomatic norms.
The Bahraini Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, informed the Iraqi Chargé d'Affairs of the Ministry's strong condemnation of his recent unacceptable behavior that contradicts diplomatic protocols in Bahrain and contradicts his diplomatic missions as Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as unacceptable interference in the affairs of Bahrain. Its interior contradicts the principles regulating relations between states enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.
The Iraqi charge d'affaires handed over an official protest note in this regard.
For his part, the spokesman for the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, announced the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, to return the Iraqi Chargé d'Affairs to the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Ministry's headquarters in Baghdad.
This measure comes – according to the Iraqi Foreign Ministry – to enhance the status of Iraqi diplomacy, which the ministry pursues in preserving diplomatic norms.
