40-year-old Jamien Harris arraigned for fatally shooting grand mother

A 90-year-old woman was found dead with gunshots injuries following a domestic disturbance in a Buffalo home.

According to the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office, 40-year-old Jamien Harris was arraigned Monday morning on one count of criminal possession of a firearm in connection to the incident that happened at about 11:00 a.m. on Highgate Avenue Sunday.

Officials with the Buffalo police responded to a residence on receiving a 911 report of a domestic incident. Arriving officers located Harris and a deceased 90-year-old woman in the living room of the home and two loaded handguns. The death has been ruled a homicide incident after the 90-year-old woman was confirmed dead from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Authorities say the elderly woman was identified as Harris’ grandmother. Harris is being held without bail and if convicted could face up to four years in prison.
