Investigations are ongoing following a fatal Thanksgiving shooting-led crash incident on Woodward Avenue Friday night.

According to reports, the incident started at Pleasant Ridge near Interstate 696 and came to an end after the vehicle crashed in the Royal Oak south of Catalpa at about 10:30 p.m. Responding EMS administered Cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the Southfield woman, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations determined that the 50-year-old mother was shot in the head by her 22-year-old son, as they rode together towards north Woodward Avenue lane.

Officials say the Troy man fatally shot his mum, who was driving the vehicle prompting a crash a few blocks away from the shooting scene. The unnamed man fled the scene after the incident, and investigators are urging anyone who knows his whereabouts to contact the police.

Investigators say passerby disclosed the armed suspect was seen acting weird and firing at anyone who offers to help. He was last seen heading north toward Royal Oak. The identity of the woman is pending forensic investigations.
