Richard Cole Cause of death: Richard Cole, 75-year-old, Led Zeppelin’s longtime tour manager, passed away after a long illness. Robert Plant who is also a Zeppelin singer paid a tribute to Richard on his official Twitter handle @RobertPlant, on Thursday, December 2, 2021, he wrote, “Farewell Ricardo, sadly no more tall tales, brave to the end.”
Born on Jan. 2, 1946, he was born in Kensal Rise, in the north London borough of Brent at the age of 12 he became interested in music. In the mid-60s he worked for the Who, the New Vaudeville Band and Vanilla Fudge. He began music properly after he met when Grant who was managing the New Vaudeville Band. In 1968, he became Led Zeppelin’s tour manager.
Cole reshaped the live-music industry for English bands touring the United States. He normalized the practice of touring bands bringing their own gear and crew overseas, rather than renting gear and hiring an American crew, as was customary at the time. In 1992, he published his own book, Stairway to Heaven: Led Zeppelin Uncensored.
