Ed Shames Death – Cause of Death – According to a post by Theta Chi ODU on Twitter on the 3rd of December 2021, Col. Ed Shames has passed away. Ed was a brother of Theta Chi Fraternity and Theta Chi ODU. Theta Chi is an international college fraternity. It was founded on April 10, 1856 at Norwich University in Norwich, Vermont, and has initiated more than 196,000 members and currently has over 8,700 undergraduate members across North America.

Ed was an officer in Easy Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II. He was popularly known as the subject of the book and HBO series Band of Brothers. Ed was also the last living member of Easy Co. E Company, 2nd Battalion of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, the “Screaming Eagles”, is a company in the United States Army. The experiences of its members during World War II are the subject of the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers based on the book of the same name by historian Stephen Ambrose.

Theta Chi ODU said in a tweet; “Our deepest condolences go out to Ed’s family as we keep them in our thoughts and prayers, Brother Ed Shames was 99, hero is World War II, 82nd Airborne, Band of Brothers – Easy Company; Zeta Pi initiated him. May he forever rest in peace in the eternal chapter”
