Geno Ivey died on Thursday, December 2, 2021, after a long and courageous battle with Covid-19. For almost thirteen years, Geno Ivey was the owner and founder of Contessa’s Pizzeria at 6630 Wise Avenue NW near Portage Street NW.

When was Geno Ivey born? Geno Ivey was born in 1961. His actual date of birth is unknown to us at the time of this publication. Geno was a proud man. He loved what he did & loved Confesses & all the people who came in. Contessa’s Pizzeria was shut down following Ivey’s death and will remain closed until further notice.

“The world is a lesser place today with the passing of Geno Ivey. He was one of the hardest working guys I ever met. He was the owner of Contessa’s Pizzeria. He loved his family and friends and loved cooking for all. He was a good man and friend to all. Rest in peace brother, you will be missed by so many,” Scott Denniss said.

Contessa’s, named after Ivey’s mother’s maiden name, first opened its doors in 2008, serving Italian food via carry-out, limited in-house dining, and catering services. On November 1, 2021, the store celebrated its 13th anniversary.

Geno Ivey obituary and funeral arrangements have not yet been posted. We will update with more if and when we receive more confirmed information.
