While preparations are underway to hold a meeting between the Saudi Foreign Ministers, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, and his Iranian counterpart, Hussein Amir Abdollahian, during the current month of Ramadan, according to what they agreed upon during two phone calls within a few days, following the announcement of the return of relations between the two countries, a friendly atmosphere prevailed between members of the diplomatic corps. For the two countries, and the month of Ramadan witnessed the meeting of the ambassadors of the two countries in Iraq and Norway, for two iftar banquets, which confirms the progress in activating the Beijing agreement and the return of relations to normal.

Last night, the Saudi ambassador to Iraq, Abdulaziz Al-Shammari, attended an iftar banquet at the invitation of the Iranian ambassador in Baghdad, Muhammad Al Sadiq, among a group of ambassadors accredited to the Iraqi capital. The picture showed the Saudi ambassador sitting next to his Iranian counterpart in the Iranian embassy building in Baghdad.

For her part, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Norway, Amal Yahya Al-Muallami, hosted the annual Ramadan Iftar banquet in the presence of the Iranian Ambassador, Ali Reza Yousefi, and the heads of Arab and Islamic diplomatic missions accredited to the Kingdom of Norway.

Expectations suggested the possibility of holding the first meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, which previously hosted meetings and dialogues between the two sides over the past year, or the Omani capital, Muscat, which also hosted rounds of Saudi-Iranian talks.

While expectations did not rule out that the Chinese capital, Beijing, would host the upcoming meeting between the Saudi and Iranian foreign ministers, due to its role in turning the page on the differences between Tehran and Riyadh, and its sponsorship of the signing of an agreement to restore diplomatic relations between them.

Saudi Arabia, Iran and China announced that an agreement had been reached in Beijing, which stipulates the resumption of diplomatic relations between Riyadh and Tehran and the reopening of their embassies and representations within a maximum period of two months, according to a joint statement of the three countries.
