Yesterday (Saturday), the Jordanian Seismological Observatory recorded two earthquakes in the northern Dead Sea region, the first at 9:45 pm local time with a magnitude of 3.2, and five minutes later another earthquake with a magnitude of 2.2.

The head of the Jordanian Seismological Observatory, Ghassan Sweidan, said: "The two earthquakes are considered under the heading of the expected fact that the Dead Sea region is vulnerable to earthquakes." Confirming that the earthquakes were at a depth of one kilometer.

Sweidan added, "People did not feel the earthquakes, and until now, there are no details about the possibility of aftershocks in the coming hours."

The risk of earthquakes increased, especially after the earthquake struck Turkey and Syria on February 6, killing 46,104 people in Turkey, displacing half a million, and killing 5,914 Syrians, bringing the total death toll in the two countries to 52,018.
