Against the background of the escalating tension between Washington and Beijing, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger warned of a second cold war more dangerous than the first between China and the United States of America.
In an interview with a Spanish newspaper, Kissinger expressed his belief that the two countries possess similar economic resources, which was not the case during the first Cold War. (which erupted between America and the Soviet Union and their allies from the mid-1940s until the early 1990s).
And he considered that the two huge economic powers have now turned into rivals, considering that it is not permissible to wait for China to turn towards the West, according to what the Russian “Novosti” agency reported today (Sunday).
Kissinger had warned earlier of the seriousness of the Sino-American conflict, saying that it could turn into the biggest challenge facing humanity. He stressed that the two countries have the ability to destroy the world, stressing that any military conflict between them will make the world worse than it was after the First World War.
While Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned, before, that the start of a “new cold war” between his country and America would be disastrous for the entire world.
