Doug Whitson Death – Cause Of Death: Sherman County Retired Sheriff and Part-Time Deputy Doug Whitson has passed away from complications of COVID-19 in western Kansas. Doug’s death was made known to the public through a social media publication made by Sherman County KS Sheriff’s Office on Thursday. His age was not specified in the publication.
Doug Whitson was a longtime resident of Goodland, Kansas, a city in and the county seat of Sherman County, Kansas, the United States with a population of the city was 4,465 as of the 2020 census. He was a stalwart man who served with The Goodland Police Department for 5 years from 2006 through 2011. He served Sherman County with great passion.
Doug Whitson was a great educator, who gave out knowledge to the less experienced officers. He was loved and admired by all including his colleagues. He was described by Deb Goodrich on Facebook as one who loved and served his community whether as a law enforcement officer, a champion of history, or as a friend who could always be counted on. He will be missed as an extremely smart, funny, and generous person.
