Samuel Owens Bell Jr. Death – Cause Of Death: 80-year-old Samuel Owens Bell Jr. of Bessemer was found shot to death at Blue Creek Strip Mines on the 7500 block of Johns Road in Adger on Wednesday 24th November 2021, he was identified by The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
Samuel was one of two guards that were shot on Wednesday, the other victim drove himself to a nearby hospital where he was treated, Samuel Owens Bell Jr. was pronounced dead from injuries suffered. The suspect fled the scene after he saw Samuel dead and another injured. He was seen driving a stolen vehicle and the police tried to stop him but he refused to stop, The police began to pursue him until he got to Hwy. 278 West where his vehicle got stuck, he came out of the vehicle and forcefully collected another vehicle from another driver, and drove off.
The pursuit continued approaching Winston County, other crime agencies joined and the suspect kept getting away until The Addison Police Department used spike strips and destroyed the vehicle, when he finally stopped the police located him dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation is still underway by The State Bureau of Investigation.
