Authorities say an elderly man in his 70s and a younger man suspected to be in his 20s have died after one of them shot the other, then stole a vehicle and took an adult female captive Tuesday in Pasadena, according to reports.

The Pasadena Police say the incident happened at about 2:30 p.m. near Orange Grove Boulevard and Sunnyslope Avenue. The suspect, identified only as a man in his 20s shot the unnamed man in his 70s at the aforementioned address. Responding officers located the man suffering from multiple gunshot injuries. He was transported to an area hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Onlookers told investigators that the suspect fled the scene armed with a handgun. He fled on foot as officers spotted the stolen vehicle, a police chase ensued and was halted as the suspect located an unidentified woman as he fled and held her at gunpoint in an attempt to get away from the police. Shots were fired by officers, which fatally struck the suspect. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is not clear if the suspect fired any shots, but officials say the woman was unharmed in the incident.
